Amaranth Medical Analytics
Dr. Nameeta Shah is the CEO and co-founder of Amaranth Medical Analytics. She is a research scientist at Sungkyunkwan University and a visiting scientist at the Samsung Genome Institute, both in Seoul, South Korea. Before that, she was the principal investigator of the Neuro-Oncology Program, at Mazumdar Shaw Centre for Translational Research (MSCTR), Narayana Health, Bangalore, India for five years. She received her B.E. from Gujarat University, India, and M. Tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. She obtained her Ph.D. in computer science at the University of California, Davis in 2006. Her Ph.D. thesis led to her interest in cancer research. She received her postdoctoral research experience at Michigan Centre for Translational Pathology, Ann Arbor. The focus of her work was high throughput screening of gene fusions using large-scale genomics and Fluorescent in Situ Hybridization (FISH) data which led to the identification of ETV5 fusions in prostate cancer. She worked as a bioinformatics scientist at Swedish Neuroscience Institute in Seattle, USA
for seven years where she established the computational infrastructure and clinical and genomic databases. During that period, she led the Ivy Glioblastoma Atlas Project effort in collaboration with the team at Allen Institute for Brain Science, Seattle, WA, USA. Through her company, she is working towards utilizing her research to develop AI-based affordable cancer diagnostics for improved patient care.
